Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon
I have recently been reading a few of books on small business, startup companies and the world of online marketing. In my reading travels on these topics I recently come across a book gem. It’s called Steal Like an Artist, 10 things nobody told you about being creative and its written by American author Austin Kleon. The value of the book lies in its affirmation of the creative process and its application for creative businesses.
It is a tough road to travel when you are out there on your own, just you and your whacky ideas. It can be lonely when you have a vision that others haven’t quite cottoned on to yet. This book by Austin Kleon is an encouraging voice during those isolated moments of doubt and confusion. It has many great hints that help you to value that unique vision and to trust that your world view is worth pursuing.
The book also offers great inspiration to get you beyond the creative low points when the blank screen or white piece of paper just look too daunting to get anything done. He presents great ideas that help you to get stuff done, GSD, and move out of the creative black hole of procrastination.
The other aspect of the book that I really enjoyed is that Kleon also talks about the creative process as something that we can all tap into regardless of the nature of our work. Creative thinking and fine tuning our ability to express our vision is something that we can all do.
Whether you operate as a business or not this book is a valuable companion that motivates you to trust your creative voice. If you are starting up a company or are in the process of doing so, this book is a real motivator to keep you creatively focused.
Add this book to your creativity first aid kit. It is well worth it. More details at this link http://www.austinkleon.com/steal/
